Choreographer
For people not knowing me, I'm Jimmy Tavares.
With over 30 years on the ice as a national competitor, principal performer, and choreographer, I've dedicated my career to helping skaters stand out and perform at their best.
Having spent 12 years touring 30 countries after my competitive career, I understand both the athlete's side and the artistic demands of the sport. My approach combines a deep technical understanding of ISU rules with creative inspiration drawn from performing across the world to build routines that deliver results.
Where
it started
My journey on the ice began back in the early nineties. Over eight years of competing, I trained more than 15 hours a week, won multiple regional titles, and went on to place 2nd at the French Cup. Spending those years in the competitive circuit showed me what it really takes to prepare, perform, and handle the pressure of stepping onto competition ice.

The Global Stage
Following my competitive career, I went straight into professional performing with the lead role in the film My Life on Ice, followed by performing at Disneyland Resort Paris. After that, I spent 12 years touring the world as a principal skater with major productions like Holiday on Ice, Hard Rock Park, and Steve Wheeler’s Magic on Ice, visiting over 30 countries. Seeing how different audiences and cultures respond to music across the world shaped exactly how I approach choreography today. In 2021, I also brought my live performing experience to television on Portugal's Got Talent.

Behind the Scenes
Moving into creative work, I gained early experience staging shows for Club Med and working as an assistant choreographer for Disneyland Resort Paris's winter ice show. Taking those first steps behind the scenes showed me how to turn strong skating into actual theater.

Award-Winning Shows
In 2010, I brought everything I learned on the road back to figure skating. Working directly with athletes and their coaches across The Netherlands, our programs have earned multiple Dutch National Champion titles. On the theater side, I choreographed the figure skating elements for the major Dutch musical De Tocht, which went on to win the Musical Award Publieksprijs for best show as voted by the audience. Whether it is on the podium or on a grand stage, bringing real showmanship into skating makes a true difference.

How I Work
Today
Today, I work with competitive skaters and professional ice shows, offering everything from full routines to single-session consultations and choreography camps. My goal is simple: to balance the strict ISU rules with genuine performance quality, building routines that play to your strengths, catch the judges' attention, and leave an impact on the ice.
